Welcome to the Little League Ranch in Wichita County, Texas. We are Troy and Mary Powell. We raise and sell registered fullblood Boer goats. We specialize in colored boer goats, particularly solid black, solid red and paint Boer goats but we also offer traditional color animals.   If you are looking for a good Colored Boer Goat for Sale, please contact me.

History was made in Knox County, Texas on May 1996 when we produced the first solid black, fullblood Boer goats in the world according to the American Boer Goat Assn. The sire of these blacks was Hershey's Chocolate. We had purchased this young, solid chocolate buck and owned another chocolate buck called Major League. We found a fullblood doe with a black head instead of the typical red head. We purchased her with the expectations we could produce solid blacks in three or four generations. The doe was brought back to the ranch and put into our embryo transplant program. The doe was bred to Hershey and they produced eight embryos. Seven of these were live kids.

Two of the buck kids were solid black, one buck kid was black with a blazed face. The doe kids were black with less than five percent white on them.

We took all seven kids, Hershey and Black Magic to our vet where he pulled blood from each and sent it to Stormont Labs to have DNA tests. The kids were all certified to be sons and daughters of Hershey and Black Magic. Since that time, we have been line-breeding these animals to continue the black Boers. At this time we have nine goats in Taiwan at the University of Taiwan. We also have blacks in eighteen states. There are over two hundred black does in our fullblood program. We are now breeding some of these to full South African bucks. About 20% will be solid black and the balance will have black heads or black and white paints. The black gene is dominant over the red in almost every case. There are several reasons to breed blacks. The main one is the people that eat most of our goat meat are the people that do the sacrifice and they want a solid black buck unaltered without spot or blemish. They have had to use the small Spanish goats or the pigmies in the US and overseas they use the black Indian goats. Another reason is for predator control. An eagle can see the white kid for ten miles but he doesn't see the black or chocolate kids.

When you purchase a solid black goat from us, you know you are getting a line-bred black and he or she will produce black.
